Memdeklaro (self-declaration of identity) empowers people to define their own identity, without third parties such as birth countries, birth cultures or birth parents. Supporting freedom of name, freedom of association and freedom of belief, Memdeklaro helps people to rise above their circumstances of birth and live freely. 

The problem: Millions of people worldwide have no access to government ID, which unfairly excludes them from daily necessities such as employment, housing, healthcare, education, banking, mail, sim cards, contracts and more. Victims of the state monopoly on identity may include stateless people, refugees, dissidents and conscientious objectors, people who were not registered at birth, adult victims of child abuse, and victims of cult abuse. If a nation-state refuses to print ID for you or issue a legal identity for you, there is no way to appeal, no alternatives and no one who is willing to give you a chance, which shuts innocent people out of the white market economy for life. In the past, the United Nations offered Nansen Passports as an identity issuer of last resort, which saved thousands of lives and gave valuable opportunities to live and work freely. However, the UN discontinued Nansen Passports without replacement.

The solution: Memdeklaro solves this by empowering people to declare their own identities without needing permission from a third party. Anyone can create and print their own Memdeklaro non-government ID card with a self-chosen name. Memdeklaro is for everyone and does not gatekeep or discriminate.
